What documents are required for technical inspection?
Vehicle Registration Certificate (Tech Passport) - a photo or copy is acceptable if the original is unavailable;
Identity Document (recommended);
Gas system certificate (if the vehicle runs on natural gas / LPG).
Deadlines and Periodicity
For light vehicles (M1 category), If a car is over 4 years old but less than 8 years old, it requires inspection once every two years.
If a car is 8 years old or older, it must undergo inspection every year.
Which parameters are checked during the technical inspection?
During the technical inspection, the vehicle's identification, brakes, steering system, tires, suspension, visibility, headlights, chassis, and exhaust emissions are checked. Additionally, the technical condition of these components and their compliance with established requirements are assessed.
What should we consider before a technical inspection visit?
Before the technical inspection, check the headlights, tires, windshield, wipers, license plates, and any warning indicators on the dashboard. If you notice an obvious defect on the vehicle, it is advisable to fix it before your visit.
What happens if I fail the technical inspection?
If your vehicle’s previous inspection was successful, but it failed the current primary inspection, you will be granted 30 calendar days. During a re-inspection, the previously identified faulty components are checked; if new faults are found, the next deadline is 10 days.

FAQ
Is advance booking required?
Advance booking is not mandatory and you can go through the technical inspection without it. In case of online booking, you will choose the location of service center and visit time in advance.
Can someone else bring my vehicle for inspection?
Any person can bring a vehicle for technical inspection regardless of whether they are the owner. The primary requirement is to have the vehicle's Registration Certificate (Tech Passport), a copy, or a photo of it.
How much is the fine for failing to undergo a technical inspection?
According to Article 118 of the Administrative Offenses Code of Georgia: Failure to undergo a technical inspection results in a fine of GEL 50 for individuals and GEL 200 for legal entities. If an individual who has been fined once fails to undergo the technical inspection within 30 days of the fine's imposition, they will be fined GEL 150, while a legal entity will be fined GEL 300. In the event of a repeat of the same violation (if the inspection is not passed within another 30 days), the fine increases to GEL 300 for individuals and GEL 500 for legal entities. After another 30 days have passed, for the same offense, the fine amount for individuals is GEL 500, and for legal entities, it is GEL 700. Please note: The fine amounts of GEL 500 and GEL 700 apply to every subsequent 30-day period.
